Reviews & Ratings RonEpp from Austria stayed here on 30th July 2010 Nick from the staff was really nice and helpful! The place is definitely in a safe area but you don't actually feel like being in the city (at least the interesting parts of the city are quite far away!! There is lots of party going on - so if you like that, that's good. The room was very clean but there were only cold showers! | Male 25-30 | Marta from Spain stayed here on 24th July 2010 We asked for some touristic information, they told us that ther was not a lot of things to do around but a cinema and a shopping mall. one of the guests informed us about the botanical gardens that were just half an hour walk and suggest us also to go to the apartheid museum, we had to take a taxi but it was really worth it. Music was very loud all day and we didn\'t appreciate techno at lunch time.
appart form that they were very nice and the place is very new. | Couple 25-30 | redoak from USA stayed here on 20th July 2010 Lockers in the rooms would be great ... otherwise it's what you'd expect from a pretty institutionalized hostel. Everyone was nice, but it's hard to get around in Joburg. | Female 25-30 | clorange3446 from USA stayed here on 17th July 2010 Very nice hostel and very friendly staff but it is a fairly long distance from town. It wasn't a really big deal but we were surprised to learn that the building has no heat, on cold Jo'burg winter evenings the room could be very cold. | Male 18-24 | joseluistrejo2 stayed here on 11th July 2010 good place, with an okay location | | jan_c_holland2179 from England stayed here on 02nd July 2010 It was very cold & would have been good if they had some sort of fire. Also no comfy chairs so could never relax very well | Female 41+ | mikepartridge2678 from England stayed here on 28th June 2010 Just stayed at Joburg Backpackers during and had a fantastic time. Staff are very helpful and friendly including the legengary 'Stones'!
There is a row of bars and restaurants within walking distance which are all good fun and very sociable. This place isn't a 5 star hotel but does the job nicely. | Male 25-30 | chinchajya5765 from Japan stayed here on 28th June 2010 Stuff is very kind and helpful.
Thank you!!
| Male 31-40 | poultermatt3534 from England stayed here on 25th June 2010 Possitives:
Clean accomodation
Freindly Staff
Close to Greenside - Funky Bars
SAFE
Negatives:
Need to get cabs everywhere, not metered and WILL get ripped off
Tours were rediculously expensive and not worth the money. Advisable to book direct with tour operator. | Male 18-24 | mattmnolan228 from USA stayed here on 24th June 2010 very safe with clean accommodations. a bit far from things though and found it difficult to get a cab in a reasonable amount of time. | Male 25-30 | | 1 | 2 | | | |
